10 Mar New Agents and Small Business

As a new agent in 2012 I knew I wanted to start my career with a small real estate company. I was looking for a family to grow with. After meeting Adam Kruse with Hermann London Real Estate I was hooked. The small family friendly concept of the business was appealing, especially for a new agent coming into the business.

If I had to give a new agent one piece of advice it would be to consider starting with a smaller business, with a broker that will guide you every step of the way towards success. Larger companies tend to hand down this roll to a manager or team leader. In this case the agent becomes a number. I joined the business with the mindset of growing my name along with the companies which is absolutely rewarding.

My second piece of advice is to create a steady income. Real Estate has its ups and downs which is hard to rely on when the bills are due. I started my own property management business and have grown to over 90 rental properties and active investors buying and seller regularly. After I had successfully managed this growth I started pinpointing my area for success. I moved out to St. Charles and opened up shop.

I have been in real estate for 8 years, but was successful half this time because I was a part time agent. I was scared to take the leap of faith as a full time agent, but it’s necessary to become successful. New agents have to know this is not a quick money business. It takes years of dedication to become successful. Make sure you have a back up plan for income preferably in the real estate industry. After investing time and money into the business I was able to go from a 1 million dollar agent to a 10 million dollar agent in only 3 years and I truly owe it all to my Hermann London family for the support and motivation they have provided as a growing agent.
